USC is rolling out mobile credentials in phases to ensure a smooth transition across campus. The first two phases focused on preparing campus infrastructure and enabling tap-to-access at high-traffic locations, including parking, dining, libraries, postal services, classrooms, offices and residence halls.
As Fall 2026 begins, USC is continuing Phase 3 by expanding mobile credential access to additional campus and participating off-campus dining and retail locations. Phase 4 will extend Mobile CarolinaCard access to USC system campuses. During the rollout, some locations may require barcode scans instead of tap-to-access. Regardless of the method used, your mobile credentials will work anywhere your physical CarolinaCard is accepted.
Tap-to-Access
Tap-to-Access is available at many campus locations. Simply hold your phone near the reader to complete your transaction. You do not need to unlock your phone or open the wallet feature for tap-to-pay to work.
Barcode
Although tap-to-access is available at many campus locations, some services require a barcode scan. To access your barcode, open the Transact eAccounts app and sign in with your USC credentials. From your profile page, tap “More Information”, then select “Show Barcode.”
