I am interested in the philosophy of science, the philosophy of mathematics (probability & statistics), and the philosophy of AI. I am a double major BS in mathematics and BA in philosophy. I received a Master of Philosophy from the University of the Andes in Bogotá, Colombia.
I am originally from Richmond, Virginia. In Virginia, I received my B.A. in Philosophy and American Studies from Christopher Newport University in 2022. I received my M.A. in Philosophy from Kent State University in 2024. My philosophical interests include social and political philosophy, feminist philosophy, and ethics. I am particularly interested in bioethics and care ethics. Outside of philosophy, I enjoy spending time with my family and friends.
I am interested in epistemology. I received my undergraduate degree in history from the College of William and Mary. I began my formal study of philosophy at the New School for Social Research before coming to South Carolina.
I am interested in the philosophy of action, free will, moral responsibility, and arguments for compatibilism. I am also interested in epistemology, particularly the problem of induction and what can be considered a proper source for knowledge. I received a B.S. in business administration in 2018 and a Master of Divinity in 2022.
I received a BA in philosophy from Columbia International University in 2013. My primary interests are ethics and philosophical hermeneutics, especially in the work of Hans-Georg Gadamer. Some of my side interests include bias, metaphor, and the nature of understanding.
My primary area of research is in contemporary neo-Aristotelian and Thomistic metaphysics. I am particularly interested in the relationship between Aristotelian conceptions of Nature and contemporary definitions of life. I argue for a Thomistic understanding of hylomorphism to address circularity in life definitions and to reconcile essences with evolution. I also study skilled knowledge (techne) in human flourishing. Outside of academics, I enjoy home renovation and watching my chickens free range.
I am interested in questions at the intersection of truth, inquiry, and ethics (including metaethics, practical ethics, and social ethics), as well as 20th century aesthetics. My research often engages American pragmatism. My recent work uses William James's "Will To Believe" to defend faux-believing. I also study Dewey’s aesthetics and logic. I am interested in care ethics, care aesthetics, and pragmatism. My dissertation develops an account of caring relationships using John Dewey, suggesting that good caring relationships are aesthetic experiences.
My research centers on contemporary epistemology, focusing on ignorance, virtue epistemology, and scepticism. I was also drawn to political philosophy and philosophy of language. Outside of academics, I enjoy tennis, photography, and watching CS:GO.
My research areas are political philosophy and philosophy of law, with interests in history of ideas and African philosophy. I am interested in personalism, philosophical anthropology, and existentialism. My master’s thesis compared the thought of Karol Wojtyla and Norris Clarke in European personalism.
I study philosophy of mind, AI, and cognitive science. I'm broadly interested in emotion-cognition interaction. More narrowly, how emotions fit within computational theories of mind. I take the position that affect plays an epistemic, constitutive role in human intelligence. One hypothesis I'm pursuing is that emotions function as constraints on perceptual and conceptual spaces, which could explain their role in creativity and problem-solving. I use this philosophy to evaluate applied issues in human-computer interaction and foundational AI research. Before joining USC, I earned my MS in Computer Science from Georgia Tech and worked in product management at Google, AWS and startups. This experience allows me to bring a practical perspective to my theoretical interests.

I am originally from Manchester, UK; I received my Philosophy BA in Manchester and I read for a Master’s in philosophy of science at Leibniz University in Hannover, Germany before coming to USC to pursue a PhD. I am interested in philosophy of mind, metaphysics, epistemology, and science communication. I would like to focus my research on how contemplative practices like meditation and prayer affect our epistemology and epistemic outcomes. I am also interested in philosophy of medicine and the concept of 'gentle medicine'.Outside of philosophy, I love yoga, reading, and hiking or snowboarding in the moutains.
